Case Study - Boulder Valley Ice

Late in 2013 Pacific Energy Solutions (PES) began lighting design for a new construction state of the art sports facility in Boulder Colorado. The facility was to consist of two full size ice rinks (one with grand stand seating for spectators) and one for figure skating and hockey practice. The facility also houses a half size practice ice rink and a 220’ x 140’ indoor soccer field. As the design phase progressed PES provided light level predictions for the ice rinks and soccer field using various layouts with Courtlite® and Arcticlite fixtures, to produce the lighting results that the customer envisioned. The construction of the facility commenced in 2015 and fixtures were delivered in July of that year. At the customer’s request, the fixtures were powder coated green to match the colors of other building artifacts and compliment the team colors of the local Rough Riders hockey club. In early 2016 the project is approaching completion with grand opening anticipated soon.
